Once again our bold traveller managed to excel hinself and undertake another dream project in his enterprise for a better world. Who don't know the project as a whole may think that he is mad - which is not far from the truth ! - neverthless everything was planned for the carrying out of five major adventures, in a period of ten years. This will include the special project for Brazil's 500 years anniversary, as well as going to Sydney, Australia, for the year 2000, the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Corea, and the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece. The project "France 98 - Visiting the Old World", besides marking the brazilian presence, not only of our athletes in the World Cup, but also of those that represented Brazil in the EXPO 98, had as main purpose to reinforce Roberto's ideas on the environmental problems of our planet and how do we deal with them. To control the emission of pollutants, to save on natural resources and improve the quality of our lives is everyone's duties.

Always concerned in alerting people to what is happening, Roberto went trough 19 countries on the European continent on board of his Kombi, collecting signatures for his Ecological Manifesto. As always , this was an enterprise with many challenges and surprises, starting with the sponsoring that, despite the support received by strong companies like the newspaper Diario Catarinense, Koesa, Plastkolor, Lunardelli and others, proved not to be sufficient due to the high costs of transport and stay for the car. The solution was to use that dribble on adversities that Brazilians know how to do so well. Our friend had to overcome his financial limits in order to be able to carry on the journey; having only US$ 900 in his pockets while in France, he resort to selling copies of his book about his previous trip, "On the Tracks of the Americas". In Roberto`s words... many Brazilians and Europeans helped me immensely by buying the books, I thank all with all my heart since without your help I might not have been able to complete the journey . Cheers !!...

After putting on the party for the Brazilian supporters at each victory of the Brazilian side , with his properly equipped "Electric Kombi", playing the necessary Brazilian beats, he also cried when his side suffered a bitter defeat in the finals. Even so he had to keep the focus on his goal, since after France he still had to go trough various countries after support for his Ecological Manifesto. On this Fantastic route he had the opportunity to get in touch with the roots of occidental culture, to know great people and amazing places like the French medieval towns and the mystic Santiago de Compostela with its pilgrims that arrive there after walking thousands of kilometres on a ancient way, which our friend went trough too, but on the Kombi of course. Many were the landscapes he saw from the Algarve in Portugal up to the Scandinavia Fjords, going trough the trendy French Riviera. It was summertime then and there was a lot happening, one of the best experiences was to go in a "Cap Dag" nudism camp, where everyone went about shopping at supermarkets, drinking at the bars, the normal business of a holiday camp, with the exception that they were completely naked .... very strange, since in Brazil we haven’t got anything like that, at least not with such infrastructure... points out Roberto.

In Italy he was able to see his friend Giulia, to whom he writes since 1987 when they met during one of his first trips. With her tips he was able to see the best of the country and still save time and money, both by now running out.
